Recent Methods for the Study of Measurement Invariance with Many Groups: Alignment and Random Effects
ثبت نشده
چکیده
This paper reviews and compares recently proposed factor analytic and item response theory (IRT) approaches to the study of invariance across groups. Two methods are described and contrasted. The alignment method considers the groups as a fixed mode of variation, while the random-intercept, random-loading two-level method considers the groups as a random mode of variation. Both maximum-likelihood and Bayesian analysis is applied. A survey of close to 50,000 subjects in 26 countries is used as an illustration. In addition, the two methods are studied by Monte Carlo simulations. A list of considerations for choosing between the two methods is presented.

aim of this study was to examine factorial invariance of the 20-item Positive and Negative Affect Schedule-Farsi version (PANAS) among male and female university students. A total of 371 undergraduate students (183 males and 188 females) at Shahid Beheshti University completed the Farsi version of the PANAS. First, two-factor model consisted on positive and negative affect were applied to the t...

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to compare the effect of a fatigue protocol on some kinematic gait parameters in students with genu valgum, genu varum and normal people. Methods: Samples of this study included 37 high school students (age 16.39 years, height 172.42 cm, weight 71.10 kg) who participated voluntarily in the study and were divided into three groups of genu valgum (n=13), ge...
متن کاملApplication of hurdle model with random effects for evaluating the balance improvement in stroke patients
Background: Stroke is a prevalent cause of disability in adults. The fall is the most common balance and motor impairments, which affects the quality of life in stroke patients. This study aims to employ random effects hurdle model for evaluating the balance improvement in stroke patients under the occupational therapy. Methods: In this longitudinal study with repeated measurement during on...
